What I've Been Doing Lately

For the past 18 months, I have volunteered as a victim advocate with the Boulder Police Department. The role began with 40 hours of training covering crisis intervention, active listening, community resources, and emotional responses to grief and trauma. I now take regular on-call shifts and respond at the request of officers following crimes, crashes, sudden deaths, and other critical events, providing immediate emotional support, information, and referrals to local resources.

During that time, I have also continued working privately with individuals and families navigating new diagnoses and medical appointments, hospice and end-of-life decisions, and moves into assisted living or memory care. Most recently, I have been helping an entire family, including aging parents, adult children, and siblings, clarify expectations around future care, end-of-life wishes, important documents, and who will be responsible for what. Together, we are organizing those decisions and next steps so everyone understands the plan.

As my children have gotten older, I’ve had more time to devote to this work. I’m excited to be working with more local clients and now have capacity to take on a few more. If you know someone who could use this kind of support, please feel free to connect us.
